Background

The USAID Feed the Future (FtF) Ghana Agriculture and Natural Resource Management Project (AgNRM) is a five-year programme It is part of the USAID-Ghana Feed the Future strategy of enhancing sustainable natural resource product (NRP) management in Northern Ghana. The project operates within a Community Resource Management Area (CREMA) perspective, where conscious efforts arc made to manage natural resources sustainably. Selected CREMAs along the Black Volta Corridor (BVC), Western Biodiversity Corridor (WBC) and Eastern Biodiversity Corridor (EBC) are the project operational areas. Specifically, Wechiau, Zukpiri and Dorimon CREMAs along the BVC and Builsa-Yening, W’uru-Kayoro and Moadri - Wuntaluri - Kumwasasi along the WBC have so far been selected by AgNRM as geographical areas for project implementation. Shea, nioringa, tamarind, dawadawa and other economic indigenous species that are prevalent in the CREMAs would serve as an avenue for value chain interventions.
